NEVER RENT CARS from this location. This was the worst experience I have had with SIXT in many years of renting cars. I was accused of damage that I did not cause. They took a photo of what looks like dirt on the windshield and claimed it was damage caused by me. I completely disagree with this accusation. In my opinion, this claim is not based on real evidence. I will attach the photo so other customers can see what I am talking about. To me, this looks like a dirty windshield, not actual damage. This location is terrible, the staff is unprofessional, and the whole experience was extremely stressful and inconvenient. I would not recommend renting from this location.

Karlie was the best! My husband and I had such a great experience with her at Sixt car rentals in San Diego airport. We were on our honeymoon and had an issue with our credit card at the desk. Karlie was so patient and kind with us as it took us some time to figure it out with our bank! (User error!!) Traveling is stressful, and most times you don’t get an agent that nice! Thank you for all your help and patience! You were great!

Excellent experience from start to finish! This was my second time renting from them, and once again they exceeded my expectations. The entire process was smooth, quick, and hassle-free. The vehicle was clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described. The staff was professional, friendly, and went above and beyond to provide outstanding customer service. I truly appreciated their transparency and efficiency. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy car rental company. Five stars!

I never thought I would face open discrimination at a car rental counter, but that's exactly what happened to me with Sixt San Diego. My reservation at the airport branch had an issue, so I rebooked at the downtown branch. After taking three taxis between locations, I was shocked when the manager, Jessie, canceled my reservation right in front of me with no real explanation . On top of that, he made a false and outrageous accusation that I was "breaking things in the branch," which was completely untrue. The way he looked at me and spoke to me made it clear this wasn't about policy -- it felt personal. As a Jewish customer, I left feeling that I was being targeted and discriminated against. Later, when I rented at Sixt West Hollywood, the staff treated me with professionalism and respect, showing me the sharp contrast. Unfortunately, the vehicle I received had alignment issues, so I attempted to return to the San Diego Airport branch. That's when the situation escalated even further. The general manager, Oliver, ran out screaming at me to leave and told me I was not welcome. No customer should ever be treated with such hostility, especially not based on their identity or religion. This was not just bad service -- it was openly discriminatory, hostile, and humiliating. No one should have to experience this kind of treatment when doing something as simple as renting a car. I strongly warn anyone, especially minorities or those of faith, to avoid Sixt San Diego. There are many other rental companies in the area that treat all customers with fairness and respect. - They had me blocked after the first month of the rent was over - The general manager afterwards apologized for he's employee behavior but he said he cannot help me with removing the block. It's upon the security department and no one has a way to reach out to them. Feels like a clown company. On the other hand i'm renting with Alamo/Enterprice for the past 6 months - never ran into any problems.

Be careful with Sixt’s upgrade offers. I had a prepaid reservation for a BMW X1 and was offered an upgrade to a BMW X6 at pickup. The agent told me the X6 would cost “about the same” or “a little more than” my original reservation because of a “discount”. What I didn’t realize at the time was that the comparison was being framed in a very misleading way. Instead of comparing the total cost of the X6 to the total cost of the X1, the agent was comparing the upgrade fee alone to the price of the original rental (X1). In a busy pickup environment, that made the upgrade sound like a minor increase when it was anything but. The result was that my total rental cost ended up more than doubling. The frustrating part is that I was traveling alone for a one-day trip and had no need for a larger vehicle. I would never have agreed to the upgrade if the actual total cost had been clearly explained upfront. The issue isn’t the BMW X6. It’s that the pricing was presented in a way that gave me a completely different understanding of the cost than what I was ultimately charged. After this experience, I won’t be renting from Sixt again.
