I went to Les Schwab in Natomas because it was the closest tire shop to me after getting a nail in my tire. I arrived at 8:50 AM, was checked in by 9:00 AM, and was told the service would take about 1–1½ hours.
At 11:15 AM, my car STILL hadn’t even been taken back. When I asked what was going on, I was told they had written down the wrong car and somehow my vehicle had been overlooked for over two hours. 🤦🏽♀️
Once they finally looked at it, they told me I had two nails, my wheel couldn’t be repaired, AND because my car is AWD, I supposedly needed all four new tires—for a grand total of $1,800. They also claimed they didn’t have any cheaper tire options for my vehicle.
I said NOPE. Put my wheels back on because I was going somewhere else.
They even tried to convince me to let them do the work because they already had the tires off. I still declined. Then, to make matters worse, they put everything back together and didn’t even repair the nail that could have been repaired.
I took my car straight to America’s Tire for a second opinion. Guess what? I only needed ONE tire for around $150. I ended up replacing both rear tires because the tread was getting low anyway, and my total was around $400.
$400 vs. the $1,800 I was told I needed to spend. 🤔
And honestly, I don’t know if they thought I was a dummy because I was a woman or what, but the whole interaction left a VERY bad taste in my mouth. I know enough to ask questions and, more importantly, I know enough to get a second opinion.
Between losing my car for hours because they wrote down the wrong vehicle, the poor communication, the attitude, the pressure to spend $1,800, and the completely different assessment I received from another tire shop, I will NEVER do business with Les Schwab again.
Please get a second opinion before spending your money here. I’m glad I did, because I would have been out $1,800 for something that another shop said I didn’t need. 🚩
