  Total scammers, If I could give them zero stars I would!!! We booked a Mid-size SUV (jeep Cherokee) when we got there we were told the vehicle we reserved wasn't available. They wanted to put us in a compact suv, we were 4 adults with luggage and a 3+ hour drive to our destination for the next 5 days. We didn't fit in the compact suv so they put us in a GMC terrain Mid-size SUV but a was charged an additional $100 or $20 per day. The other gentleman working for Alamo was with an elderly couple and told them the car they had reserved was a piece of junk and it would probably break down on them. So he needed to upgrade them to a luxury vehicle, forced the insurance on them and the refueling fee at a rate about .70¢ higher than the price at the stations in the area. Another lady that was getting her car right next to us (single lady no passengers) got told "they don't have any of the Mid-size SUV available and got put in a Grand wagoneer. She said they charged her an additional $80 per day for the 3 days she was going to be there. Total scammers, they obviously work on commission and will screw you over and lie to make there commissions, and if they can't they put you in a car that is much less than you already paid for.

  Be very, very careful about renting from this place. I rented a vehicle a while back and did so through my online account. When I arrived at the counter the employee told me that it was made as an "international" reservation. I had no idea what he was talking about but before I could check my Alamo app he had already cancelled the reservation out. He told me he would need to "re-book" for me. What turned out to be a 4 day rental for around $250 turned into a $600+ rental! Classic bait-and-switch from what I thought was a reputable company. FWIW I filled out their "survey" when I returned home and got an email telling me someone would reach out to me. NEVER heard from anyone. So folks, there are many, many options for rental cars here. I would just avoid renting from Alamo.

DOUBLE CHECK! 💁🏼‍♀️✨ Rented 6/24/2026- 6/27/2026 If you're flying into Phoenix, and renting a car, do yourself a favor and rent with Alamo. As an Alamo Insider member, I booked online, skipped the counter (because who has time for lines? 😉), and it’s an Alamo perk! We walked straight to the lot, picked my ride, and we were off and cruising Scottsdale and sightseeing through Arizona in minutes. Returning the car? Just as easy! Huge shoutout to AARON at Phoenix Sky Harbor return location. Friendly, fast, and had my granddaughter and me checked out in no time. We dropped our bags at Skycap, right outside the rental car area, and hopped on the tram, and headed to our gate without a single ounce of stress. That's my kind of vacation! 🌵✈️🚘 I'm a California girl who loves things easy, breezy, and drama-free... and Alamo delivers every single time. Great cars, amazing service, and the easiest rental experience out there. Five stars from this happy traveler! 🌊💙 I'll keep choosing Alamo every chance I get. I used to use other car rental companies, but Alamo has done me RIGHT, every. single.time. 🙌🏼 Thank you!!

  With a reservation made weeks in advance, our car wasn't ready and we had to wait almost 2 hours. At which point they offered us a 2 seater sports car. I explained I had paid for an suv. They said they didn't have one, and I could wait another hour to see. I asked to speak with a manager and they said no manager would come to speak to me as everyone was in the same situation. I said I would still like to talk to the manager and would like to have a call back at which point they said they're not doing that and I'd have to just wait. Not the customer experience I expected. Won't be renting from you again.

  Car appeared great until I was in it for a while and then found out it had been smoked in previously. No wonder the windows were down when I got it! Unless Alamo refunds me the full amount, I will not rent from them again and will file a complaint with Costco also. Otherwise their service was helpful and friendly, but the experience driving the car was awful!
