UPDATE.. It goes from bad to worst.. I got this message Please be ready to provide your contact information, your reservation or rental agreement number and the details. Thanks. – Michelle So I try and called. The woman who answered the phone accent was very thick. I asked if I was in the right place.. The representative confirmed my identity, then informed me she could not see the information I previously submitted and asked me to repeat everything again. She wanted me to repeat my sad story. After having already provided the full details of my experience in writing I am so DONE with Alamo .. I hung up on her.. I am so over this. At this point I am extremely frustrated with the lack of communication and customer service. ---------------------------------------- I have been renting cars for years, and I have never had such a difficult experience getting to an Alamo location or leaving the lot. I picked up my luggage at 3:30 PM, and it was 5:30 PM before I was finally standing at the counter to rent my car. The process of finding where to catch the shuttle bus was extremely confusing. There was also a great deal of walking involved, which I was not prepared to do while handling two bags without any assistance. After finally finding the correct route, I fell while getting into the elevator to go to the third floor. By the time I reached the counter, I was completely overwhelmed and extremely stressed. In that state, I agreed to pay the $99 fuel charge for Alamo to fill the gas tank. Had I been thinking clearly, I would never have agreed to that option. I rented a convertible because I was coming into town for my granddaughter’s graduation and wanted to enjoy the experience. However, when I selected my vehicle, the Alamo employee simply pointed me toward the row of convertibles and told me to “take your pick.” I chose the blue one, and she said the keys were inside and walked away. I had to return to her three separate times for assistance because I could not figure out how to open the trunk, adjust the seat, or even start the car. No one explained how to operate the convertible top, so unfortunately I never even used that feature during my rental. I did not leave the lot until almost 6 PM. Ironically, the return process was excellent. Alamo clearly has that process perfected. From the highway signage, to the employee directing traffic, to the quick and easy vehicle check-in, everything was seamless and efficient. If I were basing my review only on the return experience, I would gladly give Alamo 5 stars. However, considering the entire rental experience, especially the pickup process and lack of customer assistance, I would have to give Alamo a failing grade.

Best rental experience I've had (and I've rented from several other countries before). First off I picked a "Mid Size" range car, when I arrived they showed me the mid size car range section. Then told me I can pick any car I want from that section, they let me inspect any cars before choosing it. Never had this experience before of choosing my own car (in same category), it's always pre-assigned to you. Ended up renting the Nissan Rogue which managed to fit 3 large suitcase, and 1 cabin size suitcase at the back without blocking rear view mirror. Then when I returned my car it was very smooth experience. They simply just checked my engine lights and the fuel level and that was that! Obviously I'm sure they inspected any damages but probably done after you left the car with them to avoid wasting anymore of your time. The free shuttle buses also appears to run very frequently, which was nice and convenient.

Our recent car rental for our vacation in California with Alamo smoothly. The staff at Alamo at LAX got us quickly checked in and we had a great selection of SUV's to choose from. We chose a KIA Telluride which was roomy and handled all our luggage quite well. We drove to Palm Springs, and it was so nice to be in a comfortable SUV for the 2 -1/2-hour trip. When we returned the car to LAX the return process was simple and quick. We got to our gate via the Alamo Shuttle in plenty of time to make our flight. Alamo is my "go to car rental" company since they consistently have good prices, friendly staff and a great selection of cars.

Had a one way mini van rental from LA to Denver to move my college student home. The van was perfect for hauling with all the seats folded down. Smooth ride, gas mileage near 30mpg, and nice features including CarPlay. The only issue we had was the van had some electronic issue with the cruise control. It would illuminate the warning lights and disable the traction control, adaptive cruise control and parking brake. It happened 3 times. It would reset itself after turning the car off and restarting the car the first two times. The third time it did not reset for several hours, then after a 30 minute stop it finally reset again and didn’t have an issue after that. I notified Alamo and they tried to help, but had no other cars big enough to suit our needs except in Salt Lake area, which we were not headed towards, or in Denver which was our final destination. We made it home without issue, so all was good.

I have been a repeat customer of Alamo for over 22 years. This time I rented a car for 47 days and was told on pickup that it had to be inspected after 30 days. Which seemed o k. What I wasn’t told was that the charges I paid were only for the first 30 days and not ,as I had believed, for the duration of my trip 47 days I was charged extra for pickup/ drop off at different locations When I brought the car for its “inspection “ after the 30 days I was told that I needed a new contract. Costing me over $1200 for the remaining days. This was because I was needing a car that day and the cost had risen considerably This is a terrible way to treat a loyal customer Eventually I booked from a different company Absolutely disappointed at this type of treatment Robert Murphy I saw the car later that evening being driven by another renter so the extra charge for returning to a different location didn’t effect the rental of that car
