  I rented a refrigerated truck from Penske on 3/17/26. I’d called 3 months prior to ensure that their trucks were reliable. The truck was going to hold 23k retail value worth of product. Upon check out I’d been told by Ailton that the truck was good to go and that the reefer (refrigerated unit) had been inspected. The truck took 7 hours to reach the desired temperature. We started loading our prep in the unit at night and on the next day all of our dough was over-proofed. Upon looking in the cabin I found that it was absolutely TRASHED. Going back to Penske and telling Ailton was the biggest waste of time. I spoke with his manager Ricky who did absolutely nothing to help me. The refrigerated truck was comp’d and they gave me a 4 day rental (also comp’d), to go pick up my set up in San Diego (2 hours away), bring it back on a Thursday, and go set up again on a Saturday to mitigate my losses. Penske also begrudgingly covered my fuel costs. For context, it was a two day event and we were set to sell 900 pizzas on day 1. All of which was lost due to poor maintenance and negligence on Penske’s part. The cabin was riddled with holes, had missing panels, insulation was exposed and missing. Long story short, Ricky the regional manger cited a clause that even if Penske is found to be negligent they’re not responsible for any losses. Which I understand; however, given their prestigious reputation one would expect that everything would be inspected, and professionally maintained. Lastly, I was present when a tech came out and said that the reefer (cooling unit) was faulty, and that coupled with the damaged cabin would make it impossible for it to cool and maintain the desired temperature.
