Stopped at this EVO Charger Station late at night during our road trip to Sacramento with our Tesla, and overall the experience was actually very good. I would probably rate it around 4+ stars because despite a couple small issues in the beginning, the charging itself worked fast and efficiently, which is the most important thing when you are traveling long distance.
At first, one of the charging stations would not accept our card payment. We tried a few times and it kept declining, which was a little frustrating after a long drive. On top of that, it took us several minutes to pull the Tesla adapter out of the car because it got stuck and that created another small inconvenience. So the beginning was not perfect and took maybe around 5 minutes longer than expected.
But after that, we simply moved to another charger, connected everything, and the Tesla immediately started charging without any issues at all. From that point, everything worked smoothly. The charging speed was actually impressive. In about 30 minutes, the car gained almost 250 miles of range, which for us was more than enough to continue the trip comfortably.
While the car was charging, we stayed inside for a little while eating food we bought on the road, then walked over nearby to the ARCO ampm gas station to use the restroom. That was convenient because everything was close by and easy to access. By the time we came back, the Tesla was already almost fully ready to continue driving.
Another good thing — there was no line at all when we arrived. Only a couple other cars were charging, so the atmosphere felt calm and stress free. We were there around 10 PM, so maybe that also helped avoid waiting. For travelers driving through California at night, that definitely makes a big difference.
We also took several good photos and left this review so other Tesla drivers and EV owners can understand what the real experience here looks like. Overall, besides one charger not taking the card at first, everything else worked very well. Fast charging, easy location, nearby restroom and food options, no crowd, and a smooth experience once connected.
We are continuing our drive toward Sacramento and will probably look for more EVO stations again during the trip. So far, this location left a positive impression on us. Recommended for anyone traveling long distance with an EV and needing a reliable fast charge stop late at night.
Good: wasn’t busy, easy to use for first time, cheaper than Tesla supercharger, easier to plug non Tesla car.
Bad: Edmund left side charger didn’t connect, moved to Barry right side charger, session disconnected 2 times, causing me to pay new session fee each time (20>40% and 40>50%). Moved to Poppy left side, for final session, making me wonder if this is some session fee scam..
