Now I understand why you can never get a live person on the phone. The device locked me out several days prior to my calibration date stating I missed my date. I wasn't even close. Then they charge you $75 to unlock the device plus other fees. I did nothing wrong. I was compliant with everything. Then I was somehow locked out of my account completely. This company is not trustworthy. If I wasn't already half way done I'd go somewhere else. These bogus charges on my account for their screw up. I have to pay for. It's a scam. There is no customer support to help it's extremely frustrating. Also my original service center suddenly stopped receiving calls with no voicemail set up. For a week I tried contacting them. No response. I finally found another service center. AZ Auto and Body, customer service I've had that place gets a 5 out of 5 stars. Intoxalock, no stars from me. They literally rob you. Their chat support is only enabled "sometimes". If you need an IID, find a more reliable company.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
