We visited Phoenix from Missouri and after we got the plane and took the sky train, it was easy to get the rental. We did have to wait in line for a bit but not long. The worker who helped us was amazing, professional, polite, sweet and gave so information and explained everything we needed to know. After she directed us to the main garage to pick up the rental, the guy helped us and told us which cars are ready to use and we had our choice. That was very cool. We headed forward to exit at the gate and the lady who helped us was so nice, polite and professional. She explained things thoroughly and listened to any questions we had. Once the checkout was finished she guided us where to exit and we were off to our adventure. THANK YOU it was GREAT SERVICE, SUPER NICE AND FRIENDLY WORKERS. When we had to drop off the car to return home, it was super easy. The guy came up asked how how trip was, how the rental was, made sure we didn't leave anything behind. He then printed the receipt and send us on our the airport. THANK YOU again ALAMO!!!!

Last month (May) I rented a car through another rental car company and had a horrible experience (See their reviews) at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. This month (June), I pre booked (as I had last month using another company) but this time through Alamo Car Rentals. Same destination. They had about 12-15 people in line and about 3-4 employees working. I skipped the line, going to the self help kiosk and was showing as aready checked in! Got to the car quickly and easily with an added upgrade due to standard sizes all rented. I answered a few questions and showed my confirmation at the exit gate. The return was fast and easy also. Alamo also had a person walking the customer area to assist anyone who needed help! Totally different and positive experience. Don't be loyal to any one rental company as there are many to choose from now. The cheapest one is typically the busiest. Your experience can change depending on the location you're renting a car as well. I give Alamo 5 Stars! Thank you 😊

I rented a vehicle at Phoenix airport and was given a GMC Terrain. While driving to Flagstaff (with my wife and 6 month old baby), the vehicle began to rumble and the engine sputtered to a halt. The vehicle broke down on the side highway 17 in the middle of the mountain pass and it was 107° outside. We called Alamo roadside and the first representative I spoke with was unprofessional and impatient. She requested I call AZ DPS to have us moved from the freeway, but did not understand that I had a baby, stroller, car seat and luggage in the vehicle, where the trooper wouldn’t have space for us to be moved. Ultimately AZ DPS towed the rental and we had a family member drive over an hour to pick us up. I was told to pick up an exchange vehicle from Flagstaff airport and was told there should be plenty inventory at the lot because it’s an airport. I was driven to Flagstaff airport where they told me they only had one vehicle available. A Dodge Ram 1500 pick up truck. The Alamo employee Angel at the airport was great, but told me there was nothing he can do for me in terms of getting a discount on my rate, or assistance with how much more gas I had to pay for, with the much larger truck. I was never checked on by Alamo after calling about their vehicle breaking down on me. I was never offered a discount, a reduced rate for the day of lost travel, or a future voucher for rentals.

The first car we received had 29 miles to Empty on the Gas Gauge. When we were about to exit, I told the employee in the exit booth. He promptly cleared the lane, so I could turn around and receive a new vehicle. Once I parked, I preceded towards the booth, and was stopped by an Alamo employee who asked if I needed assistance. I explained to this employee our gas situation. She then went to the car, turned it on, and told us we had a full tank of gas, even thought we pointed out the gas gauge was stating 29 miles to empty. She continue to argue with us. She then very rudely told us to exit the car, and provided us with another vehicle. We removed our luggage from the old car and moved it into the new car, without assistance or further contact with the Alamo employee who argued with us. We were so excited about our trip and getting on the road to Sedona, that we did not notice a substantial stain on the ceiling above the driver until we were halfway to Sedona. It truly looked like someone had been bludgeoned to death in the front seat (I hope it was just coffee or hot cocoa). We decided to not turn around and replace this car. Once our trip was concluded, and we returned to the airport, I was greeted by Matthew. Long story short Matthew took EXCELLENT care of us. He listened to my concerns, conferred with his manager, and we were reimbursed for the gas and cleaning fee. I appreciate Matthew and his customer service. I am thankful I was able to interact with Matthew because after my experience I was considering never using Alamo again. Thank you Matthew!

Attendants at the airport were super helpful. However I was not satisfied with the company all together. They did not have the car I originally reserved. Waited about an hour to get something remotely close to what we originally reserved. Vehicle seemed fine driving home so we can load it up and get going on our roadtrip. Finally left for our roadtrip and while going through the desert, this vehicle would shake like crazy upon decent while applying slight braking to slow down!!!!!! We got to our first stop, and I reached out to Alamo roadside serice and they offered little to no help with gettign the vehicle replaced. They told me that I need to call around to see if they have the vehicle available. I did, and the locations I called were of nohelp either. They told me that the same size vehicles were all reserved and could only offer me a smaller vehicle. Mind you, we rented this specific size for a reason. No management even tried to rectify the issue after requesting a call back from one. I had to make sure that the call was recorded to let them know that if something were to happen to my family because of this vehicle's braking issue, that they would be at fault. We continued on with our trip because we had a tight schedule despite the braking issue. Then when we got to our final destination, the vehicle has burnt through 65% of the oil! Once again, no help offered so we just prayed and hoped that we make it back hope without incident. Finally got back home after very scary drive and returned this doomed vehicle and they couldn't even offer me anything for the trouble this has caused. Definitely now going to recommend this company.
