  We rented a Jeep from Alamo and had a generally positive experience, with a few areas that could be improved. The Jeep was clean overall, but there was sticky residue on the windshield that could have been removed with a product like Goo Gone before pickup. The staff was friendly, but the pickup process could have been smoother. The kiosks were down, and although we selected the “Skip the Line” option, we still waited in line for about 20–30 minutes. Taylor was awesome when we returned the vehicle! We appreciated the friendly service, especially during our early-morning return. We are currently waiting to receive some items we accidentally left in the backseat. We understand that checking for our belongings is our responsibility, especially since we were tired that morning. Still, a quick check by an employee before customers leave would be a helpful extra step. A second set of eyes could make a big difference! Overall, we appreciated the friendly staff and enjoyed renting the Jeep, but better attention to vehicle preparation and a smoother pickup process would improve the experience

  Another bad experience through Alamo. I flew into Phoenix from Knoxville and booked a rental car through an Allegiant bundle. When we arrived, we were told that a valid credit card would be required in order for me to rent the vehicle. I explained that only my husband had a credit card and that all I had was a debit card. The agent told us that the credit card had to be under the name on the reservation. I again said, I only have a debit card. She proceeds to tell me that I would need to call Allegiant to change the reservation to my husbands name. I spent 3 hours waiting on hold talking to multiple agents trying to change my reservation. When I was finally at the end of my rope as Allegiant could not figure out how to change the name on the reservation, the agent said “Wait..I always book through Alamo. They are the one car rental company that will give you a rental without a credit card. You just have to have a debit card and a return flight.” I went back in and another Alamo agent told me that the Allegiant agent was correct. When I explained my situation to the first Alamo agent, why would she proceed to give me attitude telling me I would need to rebook? Instead of explaining that I could rent with a debit card as long as I had a return flight? Instead of giving me attitude, she should have asked questions to find solutions. It was absolutely ridiculous that I was held up for 3 HOURS for absolutely no reason. Just for Alamo to turn right around under the same circumstances and allow me to rent the vehicle? Poor display of customer service. I’ve rented from Alamo multiple times and every time was great. Something has changed in the past couple of years because it’s just one bad experience after another. 100% the last time I ever book with them.

  Destiney B was so friendly and accommodating while we were checking in for two rental cars! Her smile and personality was out of this world! The jeeps were lined up, and we were able to pick our own. 2 out of the 3 we picked were BRAND new, and one had less than 500 miles. Cars were clean, comfortable, and fueled up ready to hit the beautiful Arizona mountains! The lady who gated us out, was also phenomenal! She was so sweet, and noted what we needed on the contract without hesitation! Joy was wonderful upon return! We had an issue with our ticket (just a glitch and an easy fix) she called over her manager and they resolved it with us on site, and we left beyond satisfied! Such a wonderful team and exceptional customer service all the way around! The operation runs so smoothly for such a large airport! Very impressed with them! 100% will rent from Alamo when we return to PHX! Great job, and what an amazing team of people you have working for you!

  This was one of the smoothest and most enjoyable car-rental experiences I’ve had. I rented a compact SUV through Costco, and the entire experience with Alamo was excellent from start to finish. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, fresh-smelling, and in excellent condition. We drove it through some rugged mountain roads and challenging terrain, and the SUV performed flawlessly throughout the trip—never a single issue or concern. The online check-in was a game changer. I was able to skip the regular line, get the vehicle quickly, and be on my way without the usual rental-counter hassle. Even better, the return process was as easy as a breeze—quick, straightforward, and completely stress-free. From the quality of the vehicle to the efficiency of the pickup and return, Alamo delivered an outstanding experience. Excellent service, excellent vehicle, and excellent overall value. Five stars without hesitation! I would definitely rent from Alamo again.

  Having used ALAMO several times before, with no issues to report, we were really very disappointed this time. Our original car, collected from Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport, was very dirty inside (upholstery) and we also quickly (within 20 miles/half an hour of driving) noticed a chipped windscreen directly in the Driver's line of sight. We were travelling to holiday in Sedona and further North in Arizona. When we reported this to the FLAGSTAFF office (nearest ALAMO location) we were told that it was "nothing to worry about" but to come back again if the safety glass did split/shatter, and they would replace the vehicle - not very reassuring! Subsequently, we did have a recurring tyre pressure issue which required a top-up every couple of days to clear the automatic sensor warning. It was clearly a slow puncture. We eventually got so fed up with this that we did report it via the HELPLINE number and were advised to get back to FLAGSTAFF (more than 1 hour's drive away) to get a swapped vehicle. So we did that, wasting another half day of our holiday, and we were sent a new contract by email as we drove back to Sedona. This new contract showed the incorrect starting mileage (we had taken a photo before we left!) and also that the replacement vehicle had a Full Tank of fuel - which it most certainly didn't, the read out showed 140 miles to Empty! Again, just very disappointing and not what we would expect from ALAMO - just a bit shoddy. More fuel expense for us. We did report all of this to the 2 staff when we returned the vehicle to PHOENIX and, to be fair, they were very apologetic and humble (it wasn't their fault, after all!?) however by that time our holiday was over and nothing could really be done to satisfy our disappointment. We had suffered all the hassle and it definitely meant that we used the vehicle less in the last week of our trip. As mentioned above, really disappointed in the level of service this time and it will definitely make us consider our options the next time we require Car Hire.
