  Unfortunately, our experience with this boat rental company was pretty disappointing. When we arrived, we discovered it wasn’t even the boat we had reserved. While we’re grateful they didn’t cancel our rental altogether, no one called or texted to let us know about the change beforehand. We should have been given the opportunity to decide if we still wanted to move forward with a different boat, since the entire reason that we booked this specific boat was because of the ballast bags so we can Wakesurf and a good sound system. Once we got there, we were also informed that the sound system didn’t work and the fuel gauge was broken. Again, this was something that should have been communicated before our arrival. The depth finder was also broken, as well as the accuracy of the speedometer. Thankfully we are experienced boaters and know how to safely maneuver a boat, regardless of the broken items on this vessel. However this is a huge safety concern for anyone wanting to rent from this company- beware! At the end of the day, we were instructed to refuel the boat, which we did. However, no one mentioned that the marina fuel dock regularly has extremely long lines. We spent well over 30 minutes waiting just to get gas. To make matters worse, our scheduled return time was 5:00 PM, but the employee didn’t arrive until about 20 minutes later, leaving us idling on the water while we waited. After returning the boat, we were asked if we had fueled it up. We confirmed that we had, but because the fuel gauge was malfunctioning, they claimed it was reading differently and charged us an additional $130 for fuel after demanding proof even though we paid cash. Considering the boat sat idling while we waited for them to arrive, that charge didn’t seem reasonable especially since the fuel gauge was already known to be inaccurate, and since we only took the boat to a cove across from the ramps. Our whole group was essentially lied to regarding the functionality and safety of this vessel. The employees guaranteed this was actually a “better boat” and even tried to convince us that we could surf behind this boat- if we drove it 11mph. Which is not accurate, as there was no ballast, wave shaper, or functioning speedometer. It also feels very deceitful not knowing where this boat came from, as we cannot even find the boat we drove on the rental listing website. And that I booked with Guy from Getmyboat, then had to pay Westside Recreation for the gas and the deposit. And now have to decipher between conversations with 4 different people and 2 different companies just to get our boat day reconciled. The reason this review is still 2 stars instead of one is because the staff we worked with at the dock were genuinely friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to assist us with our coolers and gear. They provided excellent customer service. And did extend our time for one hour. However that feels inadequate for the lack of communication regarding our rental choice. We still had a fantastic day on the water, but that was because of the people we were with not because of the rental experience. Unfortunately, based on how this rental was handled, we wouldn’t choose this company again.

  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Westside Recreation has been awesome to work with. Each boat we’ve rented has been in great shape, very clean, and obviously well maintained. The staff is always professional, friendly, and patient, and they really go above and beyond to make sure everything goes smoothly. I originally thought about buying a boat, but then my wife reminded me how expensive they are between the purchase price, storage, maintenance, and upkeep. Renting a boat a few times a month during the summer months just makes so much more sense, and after our experiences, Westside Recreation will definitely be our go-to for boat rentals. We love the double decker with a built in water slide for the kids! I highly recommend them to anyone looking to rent a boat. The only thing they’re missing is a subscription plan like Netflix for boat rentals—I’d sign up in a heartbeat!

  West Side Boat rental is great! Just came back from a 6 hour lake adventure with 11 friends on the 26’Triton Double decker pontoon with slide. The slide was a blast, and this coming from a group of people in their 60’s and early 70’s. This is the 3rd year I have rented from Westside and they are quick to respond to questions and go out of their way to make your experience wonderful. Julio met us in the parking lot with the boat, helped us load our supplies in the boat, gave us a detailed tutorial how everything worked and then drove us and the boat to the boat launch and when we were done pulled us and the boat out of the water and back to our vehicles to disembark. He was awesome! You won’t be disappointed renting from West Side Boat rental.

  We had an amazing time renting from Westside Recreation! The XL 26’ Grand Island Double Decker W/ Slide was exactly as pictured—very clean and ran perfectly. The staff was incredibly welcoming, Jesus and Natalie took the extra time to walk us through on how to operate the boat and point out life jackets so we felt totally comfortable in the water. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great day in the lake!

  It was great! Wes, the driver was awesome. We went tubing and he made sure we had a good time. We all hung out in a chill area and got to swim around and blast some good music. We saw lots of Burros too. Only thing I’d say is to confirm in writing that you paid for a boat captain BEFORE you arrive so that they know you already paid for one and they’re ready for you so you can pay it all at once. I prefer to pay all at once but it’s not a deal breaker, just a preference. Overall, a great experience!
