I have been a loyal Safelite customer for years, trusting them with all my vehicles. Unfortunately, my most recent experience shows a severe decline in their quality of work and customer service.
I recently brought my car in for a windshield replacement. Because I’ve had smooth experiences in the past, I didn’t heavily scrutinize the interior upon pickup. However, when I took my car in for a detail shortly after, the technician pointed out that the Safelite installer had left black tar/urethane and dirty fingerprints all over my headliner. Because the mess is located just out of the normal line of sight, I hadn't noticed it right away.
I immediately contacted the store, and the manager, Mario, called me back. He asked for proof, so I promptly sent him photos and a video of the damage. That was over a week ago. Since then, I have heard absolutely nothing. I have texted him repeatedly to find out how Safelite plans to fix the mess they caused, but I am being completely ignored.
Careless workmanship is frustrating, but ghosting a long-time customer instead of taking accountability is completely unacceptable. Highly disappointed.

This is my second Safelite replacement on a 2024 GX 550. The first replacement was in November 2025. Safelite was assigned by my insurance company for both replacements. For both appointments I scheduled a home mobile appointment. For the second windshield replacement in April 2026 the tech could not replace my windshield on the day of the appointment because he found that the trim parts around the windshield had been broken and then glued to the car during the last windshield replacement by Safelite using windshield glue and they could not be reused. They ordered new parts and reported them as brittle/warped per my receipt. The parts were not charged to me. I did add "Ceramic Air Blue tint for your entire windshield" to the order per an email I received prior to the windshield replacement (see attached). The documentation I received stated: "No Obstructive tint - unlike dark tint, air blue doesn't obstruct your view making it suitable during crucial visibility". Once the correct trim parts and the windshield were installed 10 days later there was an additional DARK tint banner installed across the top of my windshield that obstructs my view due to a very dark tint (see attached photo).
I contacted Safelite the day of installation to have the dark tint removed. I was told the day of install that the manager was out until next Tuedsay 5/5/26. I called Safelite on 5/5/26 to get the tint removed. They told me that they would remove the tint for no cost if I bring the car to their shop for a 2 hour service, but if I wanted the problem corrected (tint installed correctly) then I would need to pay an additional $50 for glue and labor.
I called a few tint shops and they advised me that the removal would potentially cause significant damage to the electrical components below the windshield due to the excessive amount of water and steam needed to removed the incorrectly installed film.
I am writing this review because Safelite made a mistake that makes it more difficult for me to drive and they are charging me to correct the issue. I believe they do not care about the customer and I wanted to let potential customers know they will break your car and hide the damages and then make installation errors and charge you to correct them.

My technician Lawrence was very professional and completely changed my windshield in less than an hour! How impressive! I’ve had my windshield replaced by other companies before in the past, but Safelite definitely is one of the best companies out there for windshield replacements. I would highly recommend.
