- SSShelley4 days ago1.0On January 31st of this year, I had an oil change at Valvoline and bought a battery there (their own brand) with a 3 year warranty, for $189.00. On the 4th of July the battery died, 90 miles from the nearest Valvoline. I was forced to buy a battery from the nearest auto shop, O' Reilly Auto Parts. I went to return the battery today and the workers at Valvoline insisted it tested just fine and refused to refund anything. The worker insisted it was my vehicle that was the problem. I took the battery to the nearest O' Reilly to at least get the core charge back, and they also tested the battery. While it eventually tested fine, the 12 volt battery dropped below 8 volts before it bounced back up. So a warning - don't buy a Valvoline battery! It is frustrating enough to be stranded by a battery, particularly a 7 month old one, and don't expect Valvoline to back up their own warranty.
