Extremely disappointing experience — buyer beware. This was our fourth RV purchase, so we understand that RVs can have issues. What we experienced with Camping World, however, went far beyond normal RV problems. It was the lack of honesty, communication, and follow-through that was most troubling. When we purchased our motorhome, we negotiated a 360-degree camera system as part of the sale. When we picked up the RV, the cameras did not work because they had been installed on the front fenders near the engine, where the heat was causing problems. We immediately made an appointment to have it corrected because we had a camping trip that weekend. When we showed up for that appointment, we were told we didn't have one. During that first camping trip, we discovered additional serious issues that should have been caught during Camping World's advertised 130-point inspection. When we removed the cap from the gray tank drain, the entire PVC pipe fell to the ground because it had not been secured, spilling gray water everywhere. The P-trap under the sink was also not secured and leaked water throughout the cabinet. We returned and were told Camping World would take care of these repairs and would also correct the camera installation. We were told it would take about a week. Instead, our service representative, Frank, repeatedly failed to return calls and continued giving us different explanations about when the work would be completed. We were eventually told it would be done on a Monday, so we showed up that day—only to discover that the work hadn't even been started. Six weeks after we originally brought the motorhome back, the work was finally supposedly completed. But the camera they installed was the wrong camera. It was a trailer camera designed to operate when backing up (the tech confirmed the finance was aware of this but told him to install it anyway), not a 360-degree driving camera as we had specifically negotiated. The camera system was supposed to be worth approximately $1,000 and was essentially useless for the purpose we purchased it for. Even worse, the gray tank PVC pipe and the leaking P-trap were still not properly repaired. When we took the motorhome camping again, both problems continued. We ultimately had to pay a private RV repair shop to fix both issues and a separate private audio/camera shop to install the correct camera system. What is most frustrating is that these were not complicated or expensive repairs. The PVC pipe and P-trap repairs were less than $500 in work, yet Camping World took approximately six weeks, repeatedly told us the work was being done when it wasn't, and ultimately failed to properly complete the repairs anyway. From the sales process to finance to service, our experience was filled with frustration, inconsistency, and a serious lack of communication and transparency. We've owned four RVs, and we have never experienced anything like this. We understand that RV dealerships aren't perfect and that problems can happen with any RV. What matters is how a dealership handles those problems. Camping World did not handle ours professionally or honestly. We would absolutely not recommend Camping World based on our experience.
