- JWJimi WhittenJun 20, 20264.0Good store and they had the exact battery we wanted, we were replacing one bought at a different Advance Auto Parts. We have moved to a different state since we bought that first battery and, well the people at this store didn't seem to want to know us or care too much whether we bought a $250 battery or not. When I put it on the counter he looked at the top of it and said "out of warranty" and just stood there. I asked if he had another one and he moved, he came back with a new one and I told him I was a member as he was ringing it up. That irritated him but he took my phone number and rang me up. I paid with a card, he said the perfunctory thank you, left the battery on the counter and walked away. I think that is the first time I have carried anything heavy out of an Advance Auto

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
