Our experience with Mavis Tires & Brakes was, without exaggeration, the worst customer service experience my husband and I have ever witnessed in person. The behavior we encountered from management was so unprofessional and unacceptable that it felt more like something you would see in a viral TikTok video than from a business entrusted with the safety of its customers’ vehicles. We left our truck with Mavis for approximately eight hours for brake work. When we called because the vehicle was supposed to be ready, we learned that the work we hired them to perform had only been partially completed. Understandably, my husband was angry and frustrated. Were a few choice words said in that frustration? Yes. But instead of attempting to de-escalate the situation, explain what happened, or address the actual problem with our vehicle, the manager told us to leave the property or he would call the police. There was one major problem with that demand: the brakes were not functioning properly. While the technician, Cody, was outside with us actively trying to determine what was wrong, the manager came back outside demanding to know why we were still there. We were still there because the brake pedal was going to the floorboard after Mavis had worked on the brakes. We weren’t refusing to leave for the sake of causing a problem—we had a vehicle that we did not believe was safe to drive, following brake service performed at that location. That is where this goes beyond poor customer service and becomes a serious safety concern. What exactly were we expected to do? Drive away because the manager threatened to call the police, despite the brakes not operating correctly? What if we had complied, driven the truck off the property, and the brakes failed? What if my husband or I had been injured? Worse, what if another driver, a child, or an entire family had been injured because we were pressured to leave in a vehicle with faulty brakes? Ultimately, the brakes were still not right after eight hours at Mavis, and we had to take the truck to Toyota to have the situation addressed. When we returned to Mavis to pick up the truck and request a refund, the manager was conveniently not at the store. And after everything was said and done, he told us not to return to “HIS” store. That statement says a great deal about the problem. A manager’s responsibility is to represent the company, resolve problems, protect customers, support employees, and de-escalate difficult situations. It is not to treat a company location as his personal property, threaten customers with law enforcement while there is an unresolved safety issue with work performed by the business, and then tell those customers they are no longer welcome. I do want to make one distinction very clear: Cody, the technician, deserves recognition. He was wonderful throughout this situation. He was honest about what he knew and what he couldn’t determine, sincerely apologetic that he wasn’t able to resolve the problem, and continued trying to help us despite an extremely uncomfortable situation. His professionalism and genuine concern were a stark contrast to the treatment we received. Customers can be upset. Customers can be angry. Employees can establish reasonable boundaries regarding behavior. But management should also understand that when a customer is standing in front of you with a vehicle whose brakes are going to the floor after your business performed brake work, the priority should be determining whether that vehicle is safe—not winning an argument or getting the customer off the property. We entrusted Mavis with something directly related to the safety of our vehicle, ourselves, and everyone else sharing the road with us. The mechanical outcome was unacceptable. The response from management was even worse. Mavis corporate management should take this complaint very seriously and review both the service performed on our vehicle and the manager’s handling of this incident. Cody deserves recognition. The management response deserves accountability.

I came in with some road noise and just planned on getting a quote. Man... I found a place where Customer Service still exists!! EVERYONE, at the service location on Rice Mine was friendly and knowledgeable. The store and restrooms were spotless. They'll even let you get some air if you gotta low tire. Peyton was great to work with, but so was Dylan. Then I had some tough questions that were really technical about wheel bearings.....Cody knew his stuff. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND.
