This review does not apply to the employee of the franchise location in Pelham Alabama. I booked a rental on line then called to verify that there was availability of the SUV and first given a number to Atlanta to confirm with no help called several more times and was connected with the customer service in Birmingham and was told that the rental was available. We went to the Pelham location and the employee was completely unaware of the rental and confirmation and did not have a vehicle available. She said that Budget does not communicate with the franchises even when they confirm availability. Terrible customer service from Budget, not the employees at the location.

We’ve rented at this location several times and just can’t waste the time or energy anymore. Every experience is painful. The staff work incredibly hard at not working. Customer service is nonexistent. This location has so much potential to be so convenient. They literally wouldn’t even cancel the reservation we had after standing at the counter for 30min to try and solve problems and do their job for them. We had to call the Budget hotline ourselves and even do that part. Baffling.

Very nasty lady that worked at this location April 10,2026. We were unable to get the rental truck due to the Driver's license not matching the Credit card. And I understand that. But she didn't cancel it, so we were charged $150 No show fee. Her whole persona was disgusting and her demeanor was rude. I have never experienced such nasty out of a human working with customers.
I booked through Costco, they didn’t have the car I wanted until 3 hours after my booking. Even though they didn’t give me what I wanted, there was no discount or anything offered. On top of that, the receptionist helping answered all of my questions shortly.
These are questions like what’s the gas mileage, is it similar to a Toyota Camrys. Yes, I can look it up myself, but I wasn’t the one that offered a car that wasn’t there.
In addition, I extended through Costco. I thought the extension was fine, then they called me the day before and told me the car was overdue. They wanted to charge me an overdue and extension fee even though I had a receipt from Costco saying my modification was successful. I asked them to check again and they refused stating I owed money now. They told me I had to extend by calling them. If I had to do that, why have an extension online feature?
Even after returning and showing them the email, they charged even more. What was supposed to be a 200 dollar rental turned into a 550 dollar rental. I asked how to get my money back from the extension online. They told me I don’t know, I don’t know what’s going on. Really helpful. I tried to stay polite the entire time but the attitude and general refusal to help was ridiculous. Now I have to go through my credit cards and see what is going on. Don’t rent with these guys. As a first time renter with budget, I will never rent with budget again.
I’ve rented from this location twice, and unfortunately both experiences were negative due to the same staff member. I booked through my company, and when I arrived and greeted her politely, she immediately responded in a rude and confrontational manner regarding my phone number not being on the reservation.
During my visit, she also handled a call from a customer stranded on the roadside and was shockingly rude to them as well. I understand staffing challenges, but customer service like this is unacceptable. I will avoid this location in the future and gladly drive to the airport! (also- as someone else mentioned, you cannot drop off after hours at this location).
