I've been greeted at auto shops before, even received service that was exceptional once making it to the counter. However, in my visit here, though I was looking for something simple and would've gotten what I needed eventually... An employee walked the aisle, approached me and offered to come to the front to look up my item quicker than I would've tracked it down on my own. Unnecessary gesture, but one I really appreciated in that moment. If you're at work... Be active and do some work! Whether this person was having a bad day or not, I couldn't tell. They were there to work and did so with a smile.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
