- CKChris KendrickSep 30, 20263.0I purchased a store model sub with a box and a new in box amp from them. They did cut me a deal on what I was hoping was good hardware as they didn’t have what I wanted in stock. The salesman I interacted with this day was wonderful. I’d come in looking for Memphis hardware, but was told they didn’t have anything in stock, and their recommendation for a DS18 sub and amp would be a good substitution. I was told the sub was 1ohm capable, but installation discovered it was only 2ohm capable. So in summary, I was already sold mismatched hardware. Upon having it professionally installed at a local-to-me installer, we discovered the sub was blown right out of the gate. I contacted them, and they said they would take care of me. Fast forward a week. I contacted them again at 8:05am. I was trying to ascertain what would be done, as I live an hour away from this location each way. I was met with a different salesperson who seemed dismissive to my issue and that he would call me back as he had someone in the showroom at the time. Totally understandable. 4 hours went by. I decided to chance it and drive up there anyway. Upon reaching them, I met the new salesperson whom “claimed” he just got off a conference call. So from my perspective, you took care of your customer that morning and instead of calling me back as promised got on a 4 hour call? Unlikely, but sure. He even went as far as to say “I shouldn’t have just drove up here”, but what choice did I have. This was my only off day to make the drive in a reasonable time since the issue began. It would be weeks before I had another opportunity. By coincidence, the amp I was sold was starting to intermittently drop out and fail the day before this trip. I brought this issue up and it was immediately dismissed as an “installer issue”. I asked if he could diagnose or even inspect my issue, which was repeatable, and was flat out told no. I know the difference between failing hardware and bad installs. He suggested I take it back to where I had it installed as it was certainly their problem, and I did so same day. He also stated that if the amp was bad I would be covered under warranty and I would have to file a claim. He offered no exchange for defective hardware within one week of purchase for what was a new-in-box item. My install location immediately addressed my concern and checked their work. Conclusion… failing amp, and not a good one at that . I have no interest in filing a claim to replace something that is junk to begin with. This latter salesperson made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. Finally, the sub that was offered for exchange was of lesser value than what I originally paid, and was not even attempted to be matched with the amp that was sold to me. Had he done his research or properly addressed my issue, I wouldn’t be stuck with a sub that is a mismatch for a failing amp. I’m giving 2 stars for them having swapped it at all. If you’re looking for a tint job, they seem to do good work. But if you’re looking for speakers or subs, please keep your receipts as you’ll need them for your eventual warranty claim. It’s true any hardware can fail or be bad on its own, but the level of customer service I received in dealing with these issues did not create a pleasant experience. Overall I cannot recommend this location because after my purchase, I was not supported or treated as a valued customer. Update: They reached out to me personally and offered a sincere apology for the whole experience. I’m changing my review to 3 stars to reflect the sincerity.
