I have to express my extreme frustration about Enterprise. My son's wedding was last weekend, a 3 hour drive away from our Hoover, Alabama home. We had reserved a minivan from Enterprise, needing a lot of cargo space but also a vehicle that we could use to transfer groomsmen to the venue, better than our small sedans. Knowing how important this was, we set pickup at our local Enterprise at a non-peak time of day. My husband even went the extra step to drive there two days early to verify, in person, that everything with the rental was in order. We were reassured that Yep, we will be ready for you. On the day we were leaving, we went to pick up the car... only to find a waiting room full of very sad and angry customers who had been told WE DO NOT HAVE ANY CARS. The group included a father and young son who had flown in, to drive 4 hours for a huge middle school band honor; they had been sitting there 3-4 hours, in the queue for any vehicle that might be turned in, despite having made a reservation weeks before; the event was definitely going to be missed by then, but they hoped to at least make the banquet. The group included a lady whose car had been totaled-- she had been ASSURED a car would be ready, and had been stuck there for hours. The group included an executive pacing the sidewalk outside, trying to zoom his appointments and explaining to everyone, "I have been here for hours, there is no estimated time there will be a car". And there we were, far down the list.... the biggest event of our lives, figuring out how stupid it was on our part to depend on Enterprise. There would be no minivan, no SUV, no vehicle whatsoever... maybe not even for a day or two... because the first come first served group of desperate clients were given whatever vehicle came in-- expecting hours more of a wait, at best. At a minimum, why were we not contacted when it was clear there would be no vehicle? We could have made other arrangements, begged or borrowed from friends! WHY WOULD YOU RUN YOUR BUSINESS THIS WAY???? I know it's 2026, and my boomer, generation jones, and gen x friends all remember when businesses were held to a higher standard. I just don't believe it has to be this way. I will never, ever consider using Enterprise again, and even so, I know in my gut that your competitors are probably just as bad. Just please, at a minimum, don't lie to us by allowing reservations to be made... it gives a very false sense of security. Days later and a beautiful wedding behind us now, I am still livid at how much turmoil and chaos Enterprise caused us on our son's wedding weekend.
