- BRBryan RadcliffeAug 12, 20265.0I had a tough time tonight. The seat belts had jammed up, leaving me and my son having to figure out another way to secure ourselves. The passenger seat belt in the rear and the driver seat belt both had jammed up and wouldn't release for us to fit them properly. We were able to pull into the Advance Auto Parts store and get a few items and some help from a young man. I believe his name is Dennis. My son requires a special seat belt because he has cerebral palsy. While speaking with Dennis and interacting with him to figure out the best possible safety belt solution for my son, I discovered this young man also had cerebral palsy, just like my son! Very knowledgeable young man who led me in the right direction to solve my difficult problem. It allowed me to get home safely with my family! Mr. Dennis, I appreciate your assistance tonight. Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
