I was told by customer service that I’d receive an email within 24 hours for a rebate on my installation. Still haven’t received and it’s been 31 hours… so far not so good. Paid $240 for installation. Not sure how this is legal since it’ll randomly beep while I'm driving and expect me to blow, so I have to take my eyes off the road to grab it, read it, and blow… and red it again to make sure it worked. Another county over (Clay County., TX) refuses to use these and I’m understanding why. Also you’re likely to pay around $120/mo on top of other legal fees. Upgrade the equipment for the price, and keep your word on customer service promises to improve… also.. I hope there isn’t any mold in them.. water goes with our saliva, so… for a “leased” device, that’s gross! Giving two stars because it was easy to get installed and make payments.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
