Almost 15% over written estimate due to additional parts? Most, if not all companies would call customer if cost exceeded the cost estimate because if I’d have known that, then I would have filed on insurance instead of out-of-pocket. $2,579 vs $2,940. They did an adequate job as one would expect from a body shop, but this is the first time I’ve ever had an estimate not be accurate without a phone call approval/notification for a cost estimate overrun. So in real numbers: Insurance deductible out-of-pocket with phone call to stop work and file insurance $500 and without a phone call notification $2,940 as payed, and probably partially why the call rule is widely accepted.
