    Throughout my rental period, I was repeatedly told that I would be “held responsible at every turn,” which created an unnecessarily hostile and intimidating environment. This tone was used even when the issues involved were clearly mechanical failures or normal wear‑and‑tear. During my rental, the rear door latch jammed and stopped opening from both the inside and outside. This was a mechanical malfunction that occurred during normal use. Instead of treating it as a routine equipment failure, staff informed me that my refund could be withheld because of it. My refund was delayed, and I was told I was “lucky this time” to receive it—implying that Enterprise was doing me a favor rather than honoring the terms of the rental agreement. Additionally, a hubcap came off during normal driving. There was no rim damage, no impact, and no misuse. Because I was repeatedly warned that I might not get my refund back, I replaced the hubcap myself at my own expense simply to avoid further threats or accusations. This should never have been necessary, as hubcaps falling off are a known wear‑and‑tear issue and not renter‑caused damage. The pattern of communication from Enterprise staff—suggesting that any issue, even mechanical failures, would jeopardize my refund—was inappropriate, unprofessional, and coercive. A customer should not feel intimidated or pressured into paying out of pocket for normal mechanical issues or routine wear‑and‑tear. Nor should a refund be framed as something the company can arbitrarily withhold.

    I called Hertz to confirm rental date and time. This was worked out prior with my insurance. Hertz asked if I could wait, as they had no cars. I had no issue waiting. I reconfirmed for another pickup date and time. I had to get a ride downtown to pick up my car annnd…….no car. No idea of when one would be available. Said they would call when they had one?? It may be for the same day??? Went to Hertz and they got me on the road in under an hour and upgraded me for free.
