Intoxalock has been almost impossible to contact. Their phone number posted on their website has no option to speak to a real person. Their chat never has anyone there to respond. After you ask your question - a message comes up saying to contact them during their business hours - even though I'm contacting them during business hours. I searched the internet and found one number to speak to a person from India or somewhere in the Middle East - and all they could do was give me an email address for customer support. I sent them an email on 10-2-25 - and received an automated response saying they have received it. It's 10-31-25 - and they have never responded. My daughter has stage four breast cancer - and only has the use of one lung. She hasn't been able to drive her car for two months - because we can't contact Intoxalock to approve her calibration being adjusted. They last time she drove her car - she couldn't barely blow into the thing. She had to pull over and blow again and again before she could finally blow hard enough to continue home. When she returned home, it was asking her to blow again. She couldn't blow hard enough to pass - so she turned the car off. They charged $84 since she exited the car without being able to pass. Of course, there is no one to contact to dispute the charge. it's quite a racquet they have going...

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
