We so appreciate the quick next day appointment that we were able to get in the Longview service shop. We’ve been traveling for work and a long ways from our home in Oregon. Our 2023 American Dream 42Q at 25k+ miles with a Cummins 450XCM started throwing error codes and the check engine light remained solid. The big shoe thrown by this workhorse came when the low coolant alarm came in and there was a big puddle of coolant on the ground. We dropped two gallons of red coolant into the overflow pressure tank and slowly drove to the shop which fortunately was less than five miles from our RV park. Naturally, resolving the coolant leak, clearing the dashboard warnings and sensor codes was our top priority with the added courtesy of checking the tires before resuming our trek home. Mr. Scott and Ms. Jackie kept us well informed. When the source of the leak was discovered on the neck under the pressure cap, the tank needed to be pulled and sent to a radiator shop for welding. We made a quick stop by our coach for a ditty bag and found a hotel for the night. Then we returned the following afternoon after Ms. Jackie reported that the work order was complete and we could pick up our coach. We paid and expressed our deep thanks. However, upon starting the engine for a warm up idle, I was dismayed to still see the low coolant alarm, two check engines lights and the same error code. Daniel checked for coolant leaks, again cleaned the tank sensor and attempted to clear the codes which stubbornly remained active. At that point it was decided to replace the coolant tank sensor; but we were safe to go “home” and return when the new sensor came in. The feeling of relief was short lived when not more than a few miles from the shop and the tires were warming up that a high tire pressure alarm appeared with a rear tag showing 15degrees hotter than the other rear tires. With no safe place to pull over on FM 2087, I slowly drove back to camp with hopes that the tire temperature would not creep any higher. Once at camp, we keep the slides in to avoid any undo shifting of weight and called Ms. Jackie. She sent Daniel to our RV site who checked the tire pressures and relieved air to closely balance the other pressures. Fortunately, Daniel returned the next morning to replace the tank sensor and top off the coolant. He re-checked the tire pressures and made sure that none of the errors remained active. Daniel left with another cold Coke in his hand and Ms. Jackie got a big bag of Ghirardelli chocolate when we returned later to settle our bill. This blow by blow review may not have been necessary, but to us it was important to express how grateful we are that these serious issues did not stop us in the middle of nowhere. The professional courtesy and service made us feel no less valued than the owner of working truck in the shop. Thank you Holt Truck Center in Longview, TX Sonny & Janice

Have used Holt Truck Center in the past and it was ok. This time, they charged us $175/hour for labor. (I know this because wife was on the phone with them when they pulled my motorhome in the bay. Then, they called when they were done servicing. All documented on phone.) They worked on this a maximum of 5.5 hours. Labor charge was $962.50! On top of that, our unit has 2 fuel filters. They charged us for 2 filters & the labor to replace the 2. Got home & 1 filter was never changed. I know this because it still had the NAPA filter I had put on. (Holt does not use NAPA.) Went up there & they gave me the fuel filter that they had not put on. Never reimbursed for any labor charges. Never going back.

I was traveling through Longview and got a DEF sensor engine code - this will shut down your engine and you cannot go over 5 mph until it is corrected. I found Holts and pulled in. I talked to them and they were fully booked and did not have the sensor. Wallace helped me get the sensor overnight and Scott the lead technician stayed to get it put in. I really do not know what I would have done - the vehicle will not go until this is cleared. Thank you Wallace and Scott so much. You are lifesavers!!!
