    Rented a car for Christmas. Glad they were open on Christmas Eve, but 12 days later, I am STILL waiting on my deposit back. They also charged me $20+ for less than $2.00 of gas and upcharged me for the exact vehicle I rented online saying that online price was incorrect. Worst decision ever.

    I had an extremely frustrating experience with SIXT at the Houston location 383 Ruthven Street, Houston, TX 77002. I arrived two hours early for my reservation and was told that all cars were booked. The only vehicle they claimed to have available was a Hyundai Santa Cruz (TX-TWB7127). From the moment I got into the car, it reeked of nicotine and had multiple scratches all over it. The smell was overwhelming. I immediately asked for an exchange and was told there was nothing they could do. I had the car for five days, and by day two the nicotine smell was so strong it was giving me headaches and nausea. I called SIXT for help and was advised to return to the pickup location to request an exchange again. When I returned after 48 hours, there were multiple cars visibly available, yet once again I was told they couldn’t help me. I asked to be switched into my originally reserved car (a Nissan Versa), but they refused. Instead, they tried to upsell me to a higher class, which would have added over $200 to my rental. Even worse, when they offered to keep me in the same class, they still insisted I pay for all five days, even though I would only be using the replacement vehicle for the remaining three days. I felt completely stuck and taken advantage of. So I ended up stuck for the full five days with a car that smelled so bad it made me physically ill — a car that should not even be rentable. Especially ironic considering SIXT charges customers hundreds of dollars if a car smells like smoke upon return. This entire experience was a headache from start to finish. The staff repeatedly said their “hands were tied,” which begs the question: what is the point of having personnel or extra vehicles if no one can actually help the customer? I will not be renting from SIXT again and strongly caution others.

    This was a terrible experience. First off, they didn’t have a vehicle even though I had made a reservation and then there was an issue with the scanner they used to scan my id. The two women who were working on the desk were very unpleasant and not helpful in any way. They basically just ignored me and refused to answer my questions. I would never recommend anyone to use this company. Ridiculously terrible customer service!!!!!!

    Absolutely terrible experience at SIXT Houston Downtown. I arrived with a fully prepaid reservation only to be told there were no cars, and that my confirmed rate would somehow be higher if they proceeded—essentially attempting to charge me more for a car I had already booked and paid for. The front desk agent, Jasmine, was shockingly unprofessional, dismissive, and refused to perform even the most basic parts of her job. Jasmine offered zero solutions, zero assistance, and her responses were completely illogical. It’s unclear why someone would work in a customer-facing role when they clearly have no interest in helping customers. Avoid this branch location at all cost.

    Excellent service and great location! Thank you Darnie for making everything so easy and convenient. I appreciate the fact that they even double checked the car before handing it over for cleanliness and everything else. Most other companies don’t put in nearly the same level of care or attention to details for their customers.
