Subject: Formal Complaint – Defective Auto Part & Warranty Handling
Purchase Date:December 5, 2025
Invoice Amount:$785.52
I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a **defective auto part** purchased from **Holt Truck Centers – Parts Department**, located at **8900 North Loop East, Houston, TX 77029**.
On **December 5, 2025**, I purchased the following parts for **$785.52**:
* **Tensioner Assembly**
* **Belt**
* **Fan Drive Compressor Pulley**
After only a few days of use, the part **failed and became defective**. I promptly removed the part and returned it to Holt Truck Centers requesting a **warranty replacement**, which is standard practice in the automotive repair industry.
To my surprise, I was informed that:
* I must **purchase another identical part at full price ($785.52)**,
* Holt would **keep the defective part** and send it to the manufacturer for inspection,
* And only **after several months**, if the manufacturer approves the defect, my **original payment may be refunded**.
I have been an **automotive mechanic and shop owner for over 45 years**, and I have **never experienced this type of warranty process**. Requiring a customer to repurchase a failed part at full price—with **no immediate replacement, no exchange, and no guaranteed refund**—is highly unusual and reflects **very poor customer service**.
This experience was both disappointing and concerning. I am sharing this not only to document the issue, but also so **other auto repair shops and customers are aware of this warranty practice** when purchasing parts from Holt Truck Centers.
I respectfully request that Holt Truck Centers review this matter and reconsider its handling of warranty replacements, as this policy places an unreasonable burden on professional repair facilities and customers alike.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Andy

We had a great experience at Holt Truck Center. The service came in lower than the bid price and they were able to work in our RV/Skoolie in sooner than expected. Service was done in one day (overnight), and the work done was exceptional. Our service advisor Daniel was excellent and communicated well. The service manager spoke with us personally to be sure we understood the scope of work that was completed. We are so appreciative that they were able to accommodate our special needs and get us back on the road so quickly. If only all Truck Centers were this great!!

Zero stars, avoid if at all possible. Had my truck for 3 weeks and hadn't even begun to diagnose the issues that caused it to be towed there. Called service advisor daily for updates only to be told that they were still trying to get someone to look at it and blamed the shop foreman who was always gone when we spoke. Ended up paying someone to haul it back to it's home state just to be serviced because I was tired of the run around and lack of info.
Whatever your last choice is for service in Houston, put them 5 places below that.
**Edit: had it moved to a different mechanic and repairs were complete in less than two days. Cannot overstate how much anyone reading this should not use this place.
And no I don’t want to reach out to so you can “get this right”, you can’t give me back 3 weeks of lost utilization due to your poor scheduling.
