Walk in with a battery from my classic car and ask for a replacement, a six volt group one battery. Counter guy is unable to look it up like that, only by vehicle. I tell him I doubt it’s in your system. He insists. So 1925 Ford Model T. He says they don’t have a battery for that. I said yes you do, I just pulled this old one from the car and it has your AutoZone sticker on it. Manager comes over and says he’s never seen anything like that and they don’t have it.
I use my phone and google it, then find a part number and tell them. They look that up and yes they have three in the back.
Manager returns with a dusty crusty battery. I ask the date and he says 2022! I asked it to be tested and it failed! The other two are even older! Manager wants me to come back in an hour after they’ve had a chance to charge the battery. What?!? I left. Went to the store in the hood on Dashwood and they hooked me up right away, without argument and with a brand new fully charged battery.
1.) You can’t look up every part by year make and model of car. Trust me when I ask for a six volt group one battery and look for that.
2.) Isn’t it embarrassing when a customer has to look the part up for you and tell you the number? Shouldn’t you be able to do that yourself?
3.) You seriously want me to trade in my dead battery and pay for an equally old dead battery? Rotate your stock! Keep your own batteries charged and ready!
4.) yes I have a weird 100 year old car, but millions of classic cars from 1955 and older are still out there needing a six volt battery. Don’t treat me like I’m a mad scientist asking for a flux capacitor. Other stores have this no problem.

OMG Gerardo came through for me tonight! I just came back from a long holiday and my four-year-old battery decided it’s time was up. I wasn’t sure where I could go to get a replacement at such short notice and at such a late hour after jumping, but I stopped by the closest AutoZone in Montrose and was helped out by Gerardo. He made things really easy -explained everything, and I got my replacement done in a reasonable amount of time. continue on with my evening despite the stress thanks to him! Great service thanks!

Mr. John was amazing. He helped me from the call until I left the store about my bad battery. Very helpful. Very welcoming. Miguel changed my battery and did an amazing job. No issues. This location is definitely a great one.

Went to return windshield wiper blades received as a christmas gift, from my elderly mother in law, who lives in WA, for a truck I no longer have. Store Mgr Jonathan gets a phone call mid transaction from loss prevention telling him not to complete the transaction. Tells me they're watching via cameras. I've never stolen or returned anything from Autozone. Nor have I set foot in one in Texas. So the question is what besides the color of my skin did loss prevention see on camera to warrant a phone call?
