Lee was a great salesperson—professional, respectful, and genuinely helpful. This review is not about him. Unfortunately, the deal completely fell apart because of the finance manager and management.
The finance manager was immature and unprofessional. When I disagreed with his numbers, his reaction was childish rather than professional, and that alone killed any confidence I had in moving forward. He was the one who ultimately derailed the negotiation.
What made the situation worse was the behavior from Alan. After reaching out to me by both email and text, I clearly explained part of my conditions to continue the deal. They were not unreasonable, and there was room to negotiate. Instead of responding—even just to say they couldn’t meet those terms—they chose to ignore my messages entirely. No counteroffer, no explanation, no courtesy.
Interestingly, they had no problem texting and emailing repeatedly to get me to drive an hour and a half to the dealership (more than once), but when it came time to negotiate seriously and try to close the deal, they stopped responding altogether. That feels disrespectful and extremely unprofessional.
If you’re considering this dealership, read the reviews carefully. You may very well find better prices, better interest rates, and a more respectful buying experience elsewhere. I would not recommend doing business here.

I felt like I was on the show Catfish — seeing a very attractive price online, confirming pricing before making the trip, and even speaking with an amazing sales representative, Christiaan, who based on my interactions and reading other reviews is a quality human who genuinely wanted to help.
The truck was advertised at $70,114 on both the dealership website and third-party sites. That price reflected:
MSRP: $89,890
Dealer Discount: –$16,276
National Retail Consumer Cash: –$3,500
Advertised Price: $70,114
That $70,114 price is what got me in the car for a one-hour drive.
I wish I had read these reviews more closely before making the trip. Looking back now, it appears this is a repeated tactic, not an isolated incident.
Once I arrived, I was told the price required $4,688 in mandatory dealer add-ons that were never disclosed when I asked for pricing in advance:
VIP Total Care: $895
Window Tint & Nitrogen: $798
“Chemical – New” (paint/chemical protection): $2,995
These add-ons brought the “real” price right back in line with what other dealers were advertising — except those dealers were honest and upfront about it.
That’s the frustrating part. I did my research. If the price had simply been presented honestly from the start, I would have purchased from Christiaan without hesitation. Instead, I’m now buying from a dealer 10 minutes away who provided upfront pricing for $300 less than the true price here.
The sad thing is, I would have gladly paid that $300 for good customer service and transparency.
To be very clear: this is not a Christiaan problem.
This is a leadership and management problem.
To make matters worse, the email addresses I was given to escalate my concerns were rejected, and I ultimately had to leave a handwritten letter for Rebekkah requesting a response. We’ll see if that results in a call back — but I’m not holding my breath.
Transparency matters.
Honesty matters.
Learn from my mistake: read the reviews and get the full out-the-door price in writing before you make the drive.

When my husband left the house tonight, he was excited. He had finally found the truck he wanted at a price he felt good about. He did his homework, believed the worst-case scenario was the advertised price, and on December 30th at 6:00 PM, he Ubered from Fort Worth to Granbury with a check in hand, expecting a straightforward, honest purchase.
What followed was anything but.
Before making the one-hour trip, he contacted the dealership directly and asked specifically about pricing. At no point were mandatory add-ons disclosed. He was trying to understand the full deal—interest rates with excellent credit and, most importantly, a clear and honest price.
The truck was advertised at $70,114 on both the dealership’s website and AutoTrader:
MSRP: $89,890
Dealer Discount: –$16,276
Consumer Cash: –$3,500
Advertised Price: $70,114
That $70,114 price is what brought him in.
Only after he arrived was he told that the advertised price required $4,688 in mandatory dealer add-ons, none of which were disclosed beforehand:
VIP Total Care: $895
Window Tint & Nitrogen: $798
“Chemical – New” (paint/chemical protection): $2,995
While the website fine print references a VIP package, the additional tint, nitrogen, and chemical charges—nearly $3,800—were not clearly disclosed in the listing or discussed in advance, yet were presented as non-optional.
To make matters worse, Alan, the manager on duty, could not clearly explain where the advertised discounts came from or how they were calculated, which further reduced confidence in the pricing transparency.
By the time my husband fully realized what was really happening, there were no Ubers available to get him home. He was stuck waiting until after the dealership closed before he was finally able to get a Lyft. What started as an exciting evening turned into hours of frustration and wasted time.
Advertising a vehicle at $70,114 and then requiring thousands more in undisclosed fees once the customer arrives is misleading. It wastes people’s time and breaks trust.
This experience is exactly why I hate buying vehicles.
Advice to other buyers:
Get the full out-the-door price in writing before you step foot in the dealership.
Do not recommend.
And honestly—why is this so hard?

I would give Shottenkirk zero stars if Google would allow it. This is the most dishonest dealership I’ve ever visited.
I called twice and spoke to two different employees to confirm the price of the vehicle prior to driving 45 minutes to the dealership. I was promised no add ons or dealer markups would be added to the online price.
When I arrived, I drove the vehicle and had a good encounter with Josh. Everything went downhill when I started talking about the price of the vehicle with one of the managers. It was then that I was informed the price was almost $10,000 more than the price I was told prior to making the drive. From an extra $5,000 for not having a trade in (which I've never experienced before or since) and over $4,000 in dealer add ons. I was informed that there was a trade in incentive disclaimer hidden in the fine print. Honest dealerships don’t need to hide things in the fine print.
The managers pretended to work with me on the pricing by removing two add ons from the listed items in the pricing, but didn't remove the price of them from the price of the vehicle. Shottenkirk and their managers are shady and dishonest.
I left without making a purchase, began the paperwork to purchase the same vehicle from another dealership less than an hour later, and drove it home yesterday afternoon. No add ons or mark ups from that dealership. The price I saw online was the same as the price in person.
Shottenkirk should be ashamed of themselves and their management. I hope you discover and employ more honest business practices in the future.
UPDATE: Notice the cut and paste response they have to negative reviews. This should tell you everything you need to know about the experience you should expect to have with them.

WOW! I have never worked so hard to buy a vehicle from a dealership. I called Tuesday morning and said "i'd like to purchase your truck. My son truck was totaled and insurance is paying him tomorrow so what do I need to do to secure the purchase. I'll put down any amount". I was told "we don't hold vehicles, no worries it will be here" by Lee Linnington. The next morning first thing I called and spoke with reception as Lee was not in yet. I said I am desperate to buy the truck as my son needs to for work immediately and again said what is required of me to buy this truck? I'll sign, send funds, anything and I asked her to hold the keys until Lee gets in and set an appointment for him to come in this morning and purchase the truck. Received an appointment confirmation but NO CALL FROM LEE so I called again and asked him to get with his used car manager and come up with a plan to guarantee me the vehicle until the morning. If they had said wire $20k until your son can come in I would have. NO CALL BACK FROM LEE again. We are sent a text last night at 6:00 pm. saying the truck had been sold by a sister location. I good salesman thats hungry would have spoken to sales manager and come up with a plan, no Lee. No character, no communication, not an honest dealership, and clearly doesn't need to sell anymore cars. What a shame.
