Formal Complaint – Brakes Plus (6246 N Jupiter Rd, Garland, TX)
I am filing this complaint regarding a brake service I received from Brakes Plus on February 23, 2026, which has resulted in ongoing safety concerns and inconsistent, unprofessional handling by staff.
About one month after my brake and rotor service (March 24, 2026), my vehicle began shaking at speeds above 70 mph. When I applied the brakes, the shaking became significantly worse and aggressive. Concerned for my safety, I exited the highway and repeated the test—same result.
I went to the nearest Brakes Plus and spoke with General Manager Scott. He claimed the issue was a bent rim and not related to the brake service, yet also offered to replace the brakes, which directly contradicted his diagnosis. He refused accountability and directed me back to the original location.
At the original location, I completed a test drive with General Manager Jacob. He stated he did not know the cause but suggested it was likely a tire issue. When I questioned why another manager offered brake replacement, he said it may have been for “peace of mind,” not because of an actual issue. When I continued asking reasonable questions about my safety, Jacob became irritated, told me to turn the car around, and stated he would end the test drive if I kept speaking. This was unprofessional.
I contacted corporate while on-site. I was redirected to the Regional Manager, who conducted another test drive. He initially indicated the issue could be brake-related, then changed his diagnosis multiple times, ultimately blaming shocks/struts and denying responsibility. This does not align with the symptoms, as the vibration is most severe when braking and began after the brake service.
I was also told my rear brakes were replaced as a “gift,” which raises concerns about the integrity of the original service, as brake work should be based on necessity—not presented as a favor.
I have now received multiple conflicting diagnoses:
• Bent rim
• Tire issue
• Brake-related issue
• Shocks/struts
This inconsistency raises serious concerns about the quality of work and lack of accountability. To be clear:
• There was no braking vibration before the February 23 service
• The issue began shortly after
• The vibration worsens specifically when braking
Despite this, Brakes Plus has provided no consistent resolution—only deflection and contradictory explanations.
Toyota has since confirmed that the shock absorber is not the issue and that the problem is related to parts supplied by Brakes Plus. I have written documentation supporting this.
This experience reflects poorly on both the quality of service and customer care provided by Brakes Plus. I am currently left driving a potentially unsafe vehicle without a clear resolution.
