- SSSoham ShuklaNov 13, 20251.0These guys are scammers for the most part. Want to get your oil changed or anything minor, sure go ahead. You prolly won't realize anything different. But boy oh boy. If you have them look at your car due to any mechanical issue, they're simply going to scam you. I overfilled engine oil and that caused smoke from my exhaust and some jerks while driving. These guys told me I need to replace spark plugs AND my fuel pump. I am an idiot in these aspects so I believed it. Turns out when I spoke to my colleague he mentioned that that doesn't sound right at all. So I asked them to not do any work on my car. They had apparently "opened up" my car and charged me $335 (after a 50% discount) for labor just to put it back together. All I saw they had removed were the fuel injectors. So they essentially wanted to charge me $660 just for putting that back. I then took the car to another auto-repair shop. The first thing that person did was laugh when I said I was asked to replace the fuel pump. I just got a call from them informing me of what the exact issue is. Turns out my gasket needs to be cleaned and the PCV valves need to be replaced. Nada on spark plugs or fuel pump. I almost paid $1400 to Brakes Plus and would've walked out thinking my car problem is fixed but in fact it would've potentially remained the same way and who know possibly damaged my engine in the long run. Stay aware guys. Yes, AI hallucinates but it does, at times, tell you accurate information for your problem. The trick is to validate it by asking more people. Bottom line - they will rip you off and/or scam you. Keep your vehicle away from these guys.
