Intoxalock is a scam. I just had the system installed in my vehicle
five days ago. I drove six miles home. I prepaid the next seven months. And attempted to fill out the contract. It gives me an option of giving them my account number where they can draw money out at will or paying as I go. When I attempt to check the box to pay as I go, it will not let you. I spoke with many foreign individuals over two days, trying to figure out why. Meanwhile my vehicle will not start. I've had them instruct meat how to check everything out unhooking. The battery unhooking the device. They do not know why it won't start.
I had to pay out of my pocket to have my vehicle hauled to the installer by wrecker. We found out the vehicle is not starting because I have not signed the contract. It is a scam. I have paid everything as far as I can in advance. And I just do not want to give anybody my checking account number that they can draw out of at will. However, that seems to be all this company wants to do. You can't call the courthouse, no one answers. You can't call your probation officer. No one answers. You just leave messages days on end.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner.
