DO NOT USE INTOXALOCK. I can’t get ahold of my sales associate who mentioned that one of the perks of choosing intoxalock was that I would have his direct number and extension. I’ve tried calling multiple times without any sort of human answering. Anytime I call, I guess my number is connected to my account which would be helpful if I wasn’t trying to talk to anyone! Instead of reaching my sales associate I get to hear the automated voice rattle off multiple options for the phone call that doesn’t offer what I need. I’ve been trying to contact Michael Harrold for almost a week now. I have even tried emailing and still no response. I wasn’t given options of the various “mobile devices”. Now when I go to work, I’m having to carry around a giant device in a case that barely fits in my backpack without being able to fit anything else in it. Not to mention it doesn’t even seem like the right type of device considering it starts a two minute timer to start my car, when the device is not even attached to my car. I was trying to contact Michael to see if I could remain a customer to the company and switch devices. The real and quite serious question I have is what times I’m supposed to be blowing into the device. The auto company told me the time windows he “thinks” are correct. Well I sure as heck hope they’re correct! If I visit my probation officer and she tells me I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time I’m not sure what I’m going to have to do. I hope this review gets to someone since it’s apparently now the only form of communication I have left to try with this company. I will not recommend this company to anyone I know in the future and once I meet again with my probation officer I will be discussing my options of switching companies.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
