The Uhaul sales associate reserved a truck for me for pick up at 4pm, at 4:11pm, while driving to pick up I get a call that the person extended it. They tried to work out deal with to get a truck for $70 with 100 free miles due me having to drive 40 miles to pick it up. The truck was $40 rental and $30 in mileage charges, when I questioned the sales associate about why I have $30 in miles with 100 free miles, he got rude and told me he was just trying to help but there is nothing more he can do for me. Desperately needing a truck, I decided to call Penske. Not only did they have the exact size that I needed but because the distance was so short he took 30 cents a mile. I picked up the truck and was on my way. The Uhaul rental that fell through took about a hour to locate and process, Penske took about 10 minutes. Needless to say, I am no longer going to use Uhaul and Penske won my business by being upfront and fair and making the rental process as painless as possible.
