I had a very disappointing experience trying to sell my vehicle here.
I was initially offered $4,200 by text. After more discussion, I was told they believed they could get me close to my asking number and even mentioned being around the low $6,000s if the car was as clean as described and had no major body damage. I sent the VIN, photos, title details, and answered their questions honestly. Based on those conversations, I drove all the way from Frisco to Arlington.
Once I arrived, the final offer was only $3,500, which was somehow even lower than the original $4,200.
What makes this worse is that this is a 2010 vehicle. It is obviously not going to be perfect, and no reasonable person should expect a 15 year old used car to be cosmetically flawless. The car had normal wear consistent with its age, which should have been expected. If the dealership intended to drastically lower the offer because they would need to do cosmetic work, replace parts, or spend money preparing it for resale, that should have been made clear before I made the drive.
Fixing up used cars before reselling them is part of a dealership’s business. That is not something that should suddenly become the seller’s problem after the seller has already driven out there. Using that as a reason to lowball me so heavily after I arrived felt misleading and unprofessional.
Jennifer was polite and communicative throughout the process, so my issue is not with her. My issue is with management and the way expectations were set. Carlos ultimately handled the in person valuation in a way that did not match what had been discussed beforehand. To make matters worse, while he was talking to me and looking over my vehicle, he was on the phone, which came across as dismissive and disrespectful. I wasted time, gas, and tolls driving from Frisco based on numbers that were not honored once I got there.
I would not recommend coming here to sell your car unless you are prepared for the number discussed beforehand to change dramatically in person.
EDIT RESPONSE TO OWNER SINCE REPLIES ARE TURNED OFF FOR ME:
Thank you for the response, but several parts of it are inaccurate.
First, the vehicle was not a total loss and did not have a salvage title. The Carfax showed an accident history, but not a total loss or salvage branding. That is a major difference, and it is not acceptable to publicly describe the vehicle that way when the report does not support it.
Second, I was transparent throughout the process. I provided the VIN, photos, title details, and answered your team’s questions honestly before making the drive. At no point did I try to hide that this was a 2010 vehicle with normal wear and imperfections. If your team believed the condition, history, or visible cosmetic issues would drastically affect the value, that should have been clearly communicated before asking me to come from Frisco.
Third, your response says the $3,500 offer was made because I drove from Frisco, but that was never said to me in any meaningful way at the dealership. What I experienced was a very low offer after being given much higher expectations beforehand.
A used 2010 vehicle is not going to be perfect. Reconditioning, cosmetic repairs, and resale prep are part of a dealership’s business model. That is not something that should suddenly be framed as though I misrepresented the vehicle after I already provided photos and details in advance.
I have since sold the vehicle elsewhere for well over double the amount your dealership offered, which only confirms how unreasonable your valuation was.
My issue was never that you declined to buy the car. My issue was the misrepresentation of expectations before I drove out, followed by an offer that did not match the discussions beforehand, and now a public response that includes claims not supported by the vehicle history.
Your team had the VIN in advance and had every opportunity to review the vehicle history before asking me to drive out.
As a consumer myself I do not gain anything from this review, Customers be very careful!
