I reserved a vehicle through Expedia and arrived expecting a routine pickup. Instead, I was told that my PayPal Mastercard was not an acceptable form of payment, despite the fact that it is a Mastercard issued by Synchrony Bank and has been accepted by Enterprise for previous rentals. Alec and Dawn attempted to assist me, but no one could provide a clear explanation as to why the card was suddenly being rejected. When I contacted corporate customer service, I was told there appeared to be no clear justification for the denial and that the issue would be escalated. The most frustrating part was the inconsistency. If a payment method is not acceptable, that information should be clearly communicated before a customer arrives at the rental counter. Instead, I was left scrambling to find alternative transportation with no clear answers. I hope Enterprise reviews its policies and communication procedures so future customers do not experience the same situation.
