  For our 2 week road trip in Turkey we booked a small economy car (Hyundai i10 or similar) for over 500 €, but when we got to the check-in area at the arrivals, the problems started. They told us they didn’t have the Hyundai i10 but a similar one, but the “similar” car was not a small car, they said the only available option at that price was the Ford Tourneo Courier, which is a much bigger car. Then the guy at the counter, to convince us to pay 100 € more to have a smaller car (again what we booked from the beginning), started saying that the Ford Tourneo Courier was not a good option for us because in Turkey it was not classified as a car but as a Panelvan (N1 category) which has much lower speed limits and higher prices for tolls and bridges, he started saying that we could only go at maximum 70 km/h, we would consume a lot of fuel and so on, just to scare us and make us pay more. After we kept telling him that we wouldn’t pay more because they were trying to scam us, he told us “After 2 days with this car, you will come crying to me asking to pay 100 € more to have a smaller car”, just to scare us even more. At the end we used the Ford Tourneo Courier for the whole 2 weeks, we consumed as much as a small citycar would do (so not a lot), we didn’t have to pay double or triple the tolls or bridges (as he was claiming), and the maximum speed limit is not 70 km/h (because we informed ourselves on the official Turkey Highways site, KGM) but, depending on the kind of road you are on, it’s between 10-30 km/h lower then the cars.

  Confusing as Alamo and Enterprise use the same desk, so look for enterprise instead or Alamo on signs etc. This location isn’t correct. You first have to go to the enterprise desk within the arrivals terminal and check into your booking. Then go to floor -1 and walk through to the back of the carpark, where it’s open air and find the enterprise desk, there you collect your car. Slightly confusing and irritating when jet lagged
