- JCJulia CummingsNov 10, 20255.0I just wanted to give a shout out to Harrison Blade and Bob Daum at the 4701 Traders Way location in Thompson's Station, TN, I came in right before closing time, nervous and upset because my care would not start when getting off work. I work over an hour away from my home and had to get it jumped off. When I came into the store I was immediately met by Harrison and he was quick to assure me that he could help me with my problem, even though it was close to closing time. He was so very kind, thorough and very professional with determining what the problem was and giving me my options. He and Bob went to work, after giving me a chair to set down, to get my battery changed out. I could not have asked for a better experience!! I have been one of your competitors custumer's for several years and not quiet sure why I pulled into Advance Auto BUT, I can assure you that those two gentlemen won my gratitude and my loyalty. Please give them a shout out and a raise! Good job for excellent customer service because I will be back!!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
