- RFRacheal FancherAug 16, 20251.0Hands down the WORST experience I have ever had at an auto parts store! If I could give negative 5 stars I would. The woman working today who claimed to be the manager was rude from the very moment of the 1st time I had to go in there. Apparently even if you have your receipt for a lifetime warranty part that costed over $200, you still can't get an exchange. I didn't see her name tag, but I wish I knew her name so I could call corporate. She treated me like a thief, and acted like she was so much better than everyone. I asked to speak to a manager, and she said she was the manager, yet every question I asked she had to call someone to get the answer for it. She wasn't at all knowledgeable about parts, and was so very unwilling to help. I have never been treated so awful by anyone, let alone someone who is working at a retail store where I spend alot of my hard earned money. I work on vehicles, and I will never be back at an advance, and I will strongly advise all my clients, and anyone I know to take their money elsewhere, where it is appreciated!!!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
