We picked up our car from the airport and it was our first time traveling with our 18 month old, so we added on the child car seat at an extra cost. When we got to the car, there was no manual and the Alamo worker said wasn't allow to help us install it. I understand there are liability reasons for that, but there were parts of the car seat that looked broken (super cheap looking car seat), including the main latch. The seat belt of the car we got also wouldn't lock, making it impossible to install any car seat. We did not feel safe putting our baby in this car seat as it also tilted him too far forward, so we ended up buying a car seat at our own cost just to use for four days. I called customer service to discuss and see if we could at least get the car seat charge taken off and they said we should have brought it up upon returning the car to the airport - it was very early and there was no one at the Alamo desk. I feel we should be reimbursed for both car seats, but hoping to at least hear something back from Alamo about our experience as traveling with a baby is stressful enough as it is.

I rent cars often but it never came to me to write a POSITIVE 5-star review to a rental company! Until I rented at Alamo at Nashville airport. It's an IDEAL rent-a-car place: 1. Instantaneous check in counter. No line and friendly professional agents who processed me within a minute or so. No pushing for extras, which I did not need and would have never bought. 2. Good car selection of new cars - the one I got had only 5K miles on it. Short walk from the counter. 3. Efficient SMS comms during the trip with a no-app link allowing me to change return date/ time. 4. I received emailed receipt literally seconds after returning the car. Also, friendly and professional agent.

This was the worst experience I have had renting a car. The shocks were gone, the alignment was terrible, the steering had so much play in it. It was a very scary car on the freeway. I had to drive two hours from where I rented it or I would have taken it back once I started driving it. It was not safe and I asked the employee to please not rent it out to anyone else until it’s fixed for safety reasons., I’m not sure I would rent from Alamo again after this experience.

Luckily I had a credit card because you need the EXACT card to get your rental. The Alamo clerk did not have a manager on site and advised I go to the enterprise counter and explain the situation and they would help since they are the same company. Which I did and they were able to help but I had to pay AGAIN with another card. In putting it on another card, the clerk COULD not refund the initial payment for the different card. I was advised to call and request the refund on the initial card. I called and was told they were going to do the reversal and but no idea how long that will take (7 days and still no reversal showing.) So here I sit with 2 charges for one car. So I guess people HAVE TO HAVE a credit card to rent a vehicle. What about folks who do not qualify for credit cards OR REFUSE to have them anymore? Anyway, to make it worse 2nd day of my 7 day trip, the car's check engine lights starts flashing and car is reving badly. Thank goodness I was near by to a return agency . It was Enterprise but they were able to get my car exchanged very quickly(about 1 hour) so I could get to the my scheduled event. However the new vehicle was DIRTY and a DOWNGRADE from my original purchase , and of course I was not reimbursed for that either. I will not choose Alamo next time. However , I do Appreciate Enterprise being swift enough to help me out on both turns.

I'd have given my Nashville, TN Alamo experience a 5 star for sure based on the very quick processing and ease of finding/getting vehicle, how it ran/performed, and the return process. My issue is that I mistakenly left a vacuum mount phone holder on the windshield (my fault of course). I called the next day and was the customer service agent filed a lost and found report. I was emailed by the Nashville branch that the item was NOT in their lost and found items bin. Hmmm. What might that mean? (besides I'm dumb for leaving it). There is no way the car was cleaned and inspected w/o seeing this very obvious unit attached to the windshield. I sent a picture of the box to Alamo for reference also since, of course, I know i'm not the only dummy to leave holders in the vehicle. But I'm 99% sure it's not still riding around in the vehicle as a "value-add" for the next customer. It's a relatively inexpensive item. Albeit my fault, I'm disappointed that a Lost and Found mechanism exists but SOMEHOW the item isn't where the "found" customer items are normally placed. It didn't just disappear. Great job Alamo in all other typical ways but you failed on finishing off the good job you started. If you're not going to be excellent and high integrity w the "lost and found" process then don't offer one.
