- CSChip SekulichJan 21, 20265.0I rolled into the store 15 minutes before closing time. Needing wipers before a big storm was to hit our area. Though Jennifer was getting ready to count her register drawer, she stopped and helped me without a sigh or a groan. As a matter of fact she came outside and cheerfully installed them perfectly and thanked me for coming in. This is a big deal. I told her so and explained that I had a bad experience at an Advanced Store in Indiana several years ago. I needed a new battery. It was misting rain at the time. I went in and left my car running and asked if I could get a new battery. The manager looked over my shoulder and said with a gruff tone, "In the rain?" I explained that it had just died and I had to get a jump to get there. Not only did he not offer to help, he looked over his other shoulder and hollered to his employees, "Anybody want to put a battery in for him in the rain?" One of them said, "Nope" while the other one said nothing at all. I told him never mind and went straight to your competition. They didn't even blink and installed a new battery. After telling this to Jennifer she joyfully said, "Sir, we are glad to help with your wipers and we even install batteries in the rain." Wow! Thanks, Jennifer and thanks Manchester Advanced Auto Parts!

Everywhere I called would have to order the part, so had Advance ordered it, had it with in a few hours and car running before dark.

Yes we do offer free battery installation on most products with purchase. We will also recycle and test your battery for free regardless if you bought it from us. Battery testing and installation is available at most of our locations.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
