Before intoxilock I went through smart start. (My family called them stupid start, if that says anything) Intoxilock has been a much more pleasant experience. The system itself is easy to use and has yet to fail in any way. The process to get it set up over the phone only took about 20-30 minutes. And the instillation was around 2 hours. I've heard horror stories about battery issues and other problems, but so far so good. I recommend them over any other interlock system.

Lacey was my state representative. Lacey williams. She was very sweet very informative. However my overall experience with intoxalock as a company is very poor and overrated. I still have not received my rebate That was supposed to be applied to my first bill. It took me 3 days to get in touch with customer service even though the app said that a representative would contact me within 24 hours after leaving a message that was a lie still haven't heard a word from all three messages I left. The customer support representative said that he would email me a rebate form 4 days ago still have not received it. Overall I believe that the company is a sham and is taking advantage of a state requirement to have the device installed just to take in a positive cash flow. Again this is my opinion, but this is my experience. After 2 weeks of attempting to contact Customer Support over the same matter not a single person has returned a single message and when I finally did get in touch with customer support which by the way I had to use *67 to actually speak to a live representative since once my interlock device was installed it went to a fully automated service that only allows payment. If you want to be a personalized company you should be more personal just saying if you don't like my opinion then you should change something.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle.
