- DGDestinee GrayDec 20, 20251.0Would not recommend, you are better off going to AutoZone or O’Reilly. Advance Auto Parts will sell you the wrong parts you need (brake pads and rotors in my case) then will not accept an exchange/refund if the box isn’t in original condition, even though it was their mess up in the first place! How are you supposed to find out if you were given the right parts without opening the package?! The parts themselves were not damaged in the least. Their solution to this was for me to buy ANOTHER set of pads & rotors that “might” fit my vehicle… Do not shop here if you don’t want to be ripped off.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
