- AFAkil FoderinghamJan 23, 20262.0I ordered a part online the night before to be picked up at Advanced Auto in East Ridge. When I went to pick it up in the morning it was not available for pick up. In addition, they could not get it until … wait 2:30… no wait, the next day… Very inconvenient. Then they sent me to their competitor. I have used Advanced Auto for years and this was the worst experience I have ever had. I was told that it seems to be an inventory issue, and this “always happens” in the parts business. Truly dissatisfied with this online transaction.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
