I got a call at 8:00 AM the morning of check-in letting me know our cabin was “ready and cleaned,” which I felt was odd being that early. We didn’t get there until later on due to our 3-hour drive, but once we arrived, it was clear the cabin hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned. It looked like someone may have just vacuumed and made the beds — and that was about it. As someone who owns a professional cleaning business, this was definitely not clean by any means. I was honestly pretty grossed out, but I toughed it out for the weekend. Here are just a few things we noticed: Dust-covered ceiling fans and some walls Hair and gunk left in the bathroom areas Dirty microwave, oven, and freezer A fingernail left on the dresser Dusty lamp bases A questionable mystery spot on the bed skirt Dishwasher appeared either unloaded or had dirty dishes in it. Dirty toilet… with a bug just chilling dead on the back of it There’s more, but you catch my drift. I hold a high standard when it comes to the Airbnbs I clean — and this just didn’t meet it. Also, the ramp for loading and unloading was a bit of a pain. The way it was built and paved and it was shallow. It honestly made us nervous to launch our MasterCraft there. On a positive note, the hot tub and the new pavilion area were great — probably the highlight of the stay. There was also one staff member who was super friendly and helped us dock our boat while my husband grabbed the trailer to load up. However, the rest of the marina staff didn’t seem very welcoming. They mostly kept to themselves and didn’t say much unless we spoke to them first. They weren’t all that helpful either. Sadly, I don’t think we’ll be coming back.
