I had only glimpsed South Holston lake two years ago and had ever since wanted to rent a boat and explore. So I figured this was the perfect opportunity. I invited several friends, and family members making it a party of 12. The reservation was a breeze. It was simple to pick the boat we needed, rent tubes to tow and pay online. We watched helpful safety videos that Laurel sent. Planning food and car logistics was far more complicated. I’d never been to the marina but signage and the helpful pull carts were obvious and thanks to the wonderful staff in minutes we were on the lake, kids in tow. Laurel is a perfect marina with every product and facility a boater could need. I’d need to be a poet to adequately describe South Holston Lake. Views are breathtaking in every direction. The mountains rise right up out of the water. There’s hardly any development along the shore. We dropped my daughter and grandson off at 4 to get to the race but the rest of us boated on until 6. The last 2 hours of the day were magical. was hardly any other boating traffic. As the sun went down and the shadows and reflections of the mountains covered the lake it became so peaceful and serene. We continued to tow kids zigging and zagging until even they were exhausted. It was a thoroughly exhausting, memorable, perfect day. I only wish my dogs could have come along.
