It truly sad when you have to have this even tho you have paid and cleared everything from the state. Also went to 16 Months in patient rehab and have had terminal cancer after your dui for the last 6 years. Even if you have lung disease and terminal stage 4 Brain Cancer the state still makes you do this. Even if you have Dr records showing your abstinence from alcohol for 6+ years. Living off Social Security and the first month including install runs you up more than $400. That’s nearly half of my money for the month. There goes Christmas for my 6 year old this year. It’s all about the money you guys. It’s all about the money.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
