My recent experience with Enterprise Car Rental started off well, mainly because the staff at the St-Laurent location were professional and respectful. Unfortunately, everything that happened after I left with the rental was extremely disappointing. I was told I had to pay for insurance, which I accepted and paid for daily — believing I was fully covered. At no point did anyone explain that roadside assistance was NOT included in the protection I paid for. The car broke down on a Saturday, and when I tried calling Enterprise, the office line would not go through until Monday. I was stranded in Gatineau with no support from Enterprise. They told me to call CAA for towing, which I did — and they did NOT give me a replacement car, even though the issue was not my fault. In the end, I paid for 5 full days, but the car only worked for 3 days. Then on November 13, when I checked my credit card statement, I discovered they had charged me for the towing. This was never explained to me. Since I was required to pay for insurance, I reasonably believed that towing and breakdown assistance would be covered. This experience felt dishonest and unfair. Enterprise should clearly explain what their insurance covers and what it does not cover. Customers should not be left stranded, paying extra fees they were never informed about. Although the staff at St-Laurent, QC were professional, the overall service and communication from Enterprise left me extremely disappointed. I will be very cautious before renting from them again.
