  Dropped off a Flex unit base, they tried to sell me a $100 carb for $196 (part price, they wanted $345 with labor). When I picked up the unit, the tech who helped me load it asked if they had even looked at it yet. Very unprofessional shop, they can't even give you a price quote without having to call you back the next day (even then, he didn't have a clue what the price should be). Save yourself the trouble and skip this place. Quick follow up: got the carburetor from Troy-bilt for $116 shipped. Installed and still doesn't start. The real issue? No spark. They never even diagnosed my Flex and just tried to throw parts at it at my expense.

  Drove 40 minutes to get there after calling ahead to have a tire filled with RimGuard. After I get there, unload, fill out paperwork, I'm told it will be 3-4 days because "The guy who fills the tires is off."

  I reached out to Southern York after being unhappy with the sales staff at other dealers more local to me. I worked with Allen from the Shrewsbury location and was so impressed with his service. I was interested in purchasing a compact utility tractor during the most busy time of year and though I'm sure Allen and his coworkers were likely very busy, they delivered what they said they would, when they said they would, and for a price below the other dealers I had worked with. Allen himself was great! He was personable, responsive and punctual and made my decision to purchase from Southern York an easy one. I really appreciate it. Southern York has since delivered some attachments and came to my house to install a part and again was communicative and reliable. So I've been very happy with their service and with my tractor and this has been a wonderful customer experience in every way.

  This place is great! I recently stopped there for a chain for my Stihl MS360 PRO during a power outage, and the employees were still able to sell me what I needed even when they didn't have power. The employees there are very customer friendly and also very knowledgeable with everything they offer there especially John Deere and Stihl products.

  Southern York Turf and Tractor is a clean and easily navigated store. The repairs conducted by their service technicians are consistently top notch. I want to be clear, I have no issues with SYT&T's service technicians. They do exceptional work. However, the administrative staff lack innate customer service skills. They don't come across as intentionally rude, just a bit hard headed and excessively gruff. Be prepared for audible sighs if they are not keen on you. I say the following as circumspectly as possible. As a returning customer I recently discovered that one of the staff had not done basic deductive footwork in finding my existing account with the store and reported a negative find to my warranty company which caused me no end of difficulty between SYT&T and my provider. When I attempted to address the difficulty she placed me through, I caught the staff member in a lie attempting to pass off her poor performance. A request to speak to management lead me to a gentleman who was unwilling to deal with my concerns. I've been left feeling a bit trapped. They are the only local service provider for my tractor type so I am unable to find a competitor who may have more trustworthy front desk staff. If I knew I could trust the front desk I would be SYT&T's biggest fan, but at this time I am finding trust difficult. Another issue I have with SYT&T's administrative staff's "quality work" is the poor care they used in the proof reading of a recent mailing pamphlet before they paid to publish it. The Pamphlet is of a high quality make and you know the company spent good money to print and mail them out so why they allowed such poor grammar mistakes to litter their pamphlet is beyond my understanding. There are capital letters were none should be, commas where periods belong, titles with incomplete capitalization, run on sentences, improper placement of words in sentences, the slang word "thru" instead of the more professional "through", and several devastatingly ridiculous misspellings (their own, not mine), "beleive, congradulations, and multiple uses of Coarses". I know that we aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, but SYT&T should be more careful. Potential customers who see this pamphlet aren't going to wait and see if the service technicians are better than the writing staff. Your administrative staff are often the face of your company, when their attitudes and their work is shoddy don't be too surprised if it costs you revenue in lost clients. So to all of the potential customers who read this review. You may just have to ignore that initial bad taste that the front desk puts in your mouth, but If you are willing to give the technicians a chance you will not be disappointed in the quality of the repairs.
