After replacing the battery which is what I asked for initially. They spent the extra time helping us get the car started despite it being very late at night and dark. Very generous people, very kind. Would absolutely recommend. Specifically Greg was very kind, and another gentleman who I forgot to get the name of.

I put my existing battery on trickle charge per his advise. Was able to get it charged enough to get it to the store. He helped me as soon as I got there. He installed the new battery extremely quickly and did a great job. This employee exemplifies a great employee. Extremely helpful, very nice and went out of the way to make the battery swap easy. Thank you Greg and thank you Advance Auto.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
