Not good. The mechanic gave me false instructions on how to operate the device and it later cost me $70, 15 minutes after leaving the garage at J&G Automotive Robesonia, PA by having me get a violation on my device. I tried to talk with the installer but he was not hearing my side of the story or owning up to his false instructions. I really feel as though I was ripped off and I want my money back. I do have a witness! I would give no stars if I could. I have sent in an invoice and told the facts of the episode too, 2 Intoxalock workers so it is on file and the invoice is on file as well. I was even going to give the garage some personal work that I want to do to my truck and would've made the garage a pretty penny. However if they are gonna get me for $70 when I was actually 15mins down the road after a new installation and not even knowing how to operate the device than, NOPE!. INTOXALOCK overlooked the $75 fee on their end with no questions, but not the device installer J&G Automotive in Robesonia,PA... very unprofessional and he knew what he was doing from the get go!
8/11/25 less than a week later Intoxalock saw this review and reached out to me and compensated me for the installers trickery. The lady that I dealt with from Intoxalock was extremely professional went above and beyond to make up for the garages trickery and that lied to me about the process on operating the device. Good stuff Intoxalock professional lady!!!

Very confusing and lack of instructions. Frees for everything. No license to submit bad reviews. I could go on
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event.
